Sunday August 9th

Post by Zach Chandler.

Haiti is no where near what I expected in the first place. Not just because of the change of the scenery compared to Lexington, but the spirits and happiness of the people there. I have never in my whole life met people so welcoming and so nice to people in a different part of the world. It fills my heart with joy to see these people working with us, playing with us, and just being with us. They are so friendly! I also am glad that God is using me as a vessel to come out and minister to the people, because the main reason I am here is to share the love of Christ to the people of Haiti. Let me tell you it is one of the greatest feelings that I have ever felt. I am enjoying myself here so much and it is a very great experience to me, to show the love of God to people in another country.

I miss you all back in Lexington though.

  1. Spencer, I have been thinking about all of you since Danielle told of the toddler who was malnourished and in need of shoes and how helpless you all may feel when confronted with situations as such during the next week. However, your message is hopeful, and I know that God will continue to work through you and the others to give the Haitians hope. Like Wade said, just your presence there makes a difference to them.

    Psalm 9:18
But the needy will not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the afflicted ever perish.

  2. Zach! I am so happy to see that you have posted and am so glad to see that you are happy there sharing Christ's love! I can only imagine what you all are experiencing; what I can tell you is that this experience must speak a powerful lesson to all of you! You are seeing malnourished people with very little who are happy because you are spending time with them, showing them God's love! There is no materialism there...Coach Harris told me today that all of you will come back so changed from this experience. I am so happy that God is using you to minister and reach out to the Haitians. Please take care! I hope you will post again. We love you so much! Reagan is clapping and is now eating cheerios! Marc has been sick. He has sportsarama for football Tuesday night. Hal say hello and he loves you. I love you too. Take care, and peace be with you!--Mom

Danielle what a wonderful surprise to get your phone call tonight. I can't wait to hear more about your trip when you get home. I knew that your long blond hair would get some attention from the children.
